Is Coaching Right For You?

Are you committed to bringing your projects to fruition? Is something standing in your way? Perhaps a lack of confidence or a lack of focus or clarity. You may also feel that you are procrastinating too much or that there is too much to do and too little time to do it. If so, coaching could be the right solution for you.

What Coaching Is

Coaching is a form of learning that promotes personal development, leading to action and growth. In order to help my clients to achieve their full potential, I offer two forms of coaching: Personal Performance Coaching and Small Business Coaching.

Personal Performance Coaching will help you to clarify your goals, ensure that they’re aligned with your true values, identify and resolve potential roadblocks and create action plans that motivate you and take you closer to where you want to be.

Small Business Coaching will help you to clarify the nature of your business, explore your market, identify your ideal clients, define clear sales goals, design networking and marketing strategies, and develop the right mindset for selling.

Each session will be tailored to suit your needs. As your coach, I will listen to you to understand who you are, what your current situation is and what you are trying to achieve. During our conversations, I will ask you powerful, targeted questions to help you to gain real clarity, rise to challenges and overcome obstacles. What’s most important to me during these conversations is you, your success, happiness and ultimate fulfilment.

What Coaching Isn’t

Many forms of support are available nowadays, which is great news, but it can be difficult to decide which type of service is appropriate for your specific needs. Here is a bit more information to help you with this.

Coaching is not consulting or mentoring

Unlike a consultant or a mentor who will find answers for you or show you how to do things, I will encourage you to find your own solutions, based on the principle that individuals have all the answers they need inside them. Instead of giving you advice or instructing you to go and do something specific, I will help you to understand your situation more clearly and to develop new ideas and approaches that will enable you to design your own action plan.

I will do so by asking you a number of questions based on the information you give me, on my own experience and on standard business theory, which I will share with you whenever it is appropriate. By allowing you to remain in control and find your own solutions, my aim is to increase your sense of ownership towards your goals, which will in turn boost your motivation and, ultimately, your sense of achievement.

Coaching is not counselling or therapy

While coaching promotes self-awareness and helps you to overcome personal roadblocks, it isn’t therapy. Coaching focuses on how you want things to be in the future, not on what happened in the past, and is therefore best suited for individuals who are ready to take action and move forward. If you suffer from anxiety, depression, phobias, any form of addiction or have been the victim of abuse, coaching on its own isn’t the right approach to help you to resolve these issues. To look for a professional counsellor or psychotherapist, please refer to the BACP Register.

Ready, Willing & Able

If coaching sounds like the right form of support for the changes you would like to make, the following questions will help you to determine whether now is the right time for you to start working with me.

READY

1. Do you have time to invest in yourself?
2. Can you make and keep appointments with yourself, allowing yourself the time to work towards your goal?
3. Is there a gap between where you are and where you want to be?

WILLING

4. Are you fully willing to do the work required to get you where you want to go?
5. Are you willing to stop or change any self-defeating behaviours that may limit your success?
6. Are you willing to try new things even if you are not 100% convinced they will work?

ABLE

7. Is coaching right for you? Will it help you with the changes you wish to make? (i.e. you are not looking for counselling/therapy, consulting or mentoring)
8. Do you have the patience to take consistent action towards your goals, regardless of how immediate the results are?
9. Do you have the support you need to make significant changes with ease (e.g. friends, colleagues or family)?

If you answered ‘no’ to two or more of these questions, you will need to make some changes before the coaching can be effective. Please feel free to send me any questions you may have using my Contact Form.

If you answered ‘yes’ to 8 or 9 questions, this means that you are ready to make positive changes in your life. Coaching will help you to get there faster and more effectively. To find out more about the packages I offer, please click here.
